The things our Ta is doing to help Jennifer :)

We were all put into groups from our ta, well it was more like we choose our own groups. In my group it was Harjot and Airana. We were told to come up with the questions we wanted to ask the kidney doctor at seven oaks hospital. I DIDN'T GET TO GO THOUGH, BECAUSE THEY LEFT EARLY, :/ but i saw the recording they made so i guess i got to see how it all went. The doctor showed them around the hospital where the kidney transplant patients were. He even showed how the dialysis machine worked. This is just what we did there is more to it from my other class mates.

"It was really hard at first time"

Jennifer Laferriere appears to be a healthy, happy person. She raised two daughters - now teenagers - has a little entourage of beloved pets and as of late has been trying her hand at extreme couponing.
Nothing about the 41-year-old indicates she has kidney disease or that she's been needing dialysis for the past 15 years. It was a routine urine test that led to a diagnosis of a rare kidney disease when she was only 15. Up until that point, she had not felt sick.
"Of course you don't really take anything seriously at that age," she says remembering when the diagnosis came. Kidney specialists monitored Laferriere's health, prescribing medications when necessary. She lived a fairly normal life despite the slow loss of kidney function. Despite the inevitable toll pregnancy would take on her health, Laferriere went on to have two children.

Jennifer is just like you. Except she lives with kidney disease.
Read her story.

The beginning of Kidney For Jennifer

Our Kidney For Jennifer project started shortly after my mom was featured in a story on Focus Manitoba on March 17, 2012. One of the first few things we watched was her interview from Focus Manitoba and a video from the kidney health website called "Jennifer Lives With Kidney Disease." This was the beginning of our journey to making a video about my mom! To watch the videos click on the links below.

Here is the first video we watched of my mom on Focus Manitoba.

And here is "Jennifer Lives With Kidney Disease".
